OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Before connecting to an electrical outlet always check for correct voltage. Use AC current only.
Your Wayne Dry Heat Sterilizer comes equipped with a built-in automatic TIME SWITCH, THERMOSTAT AND THERMOMETER.
TIME SWITCH
The 2 hour timer is also the ON-OFF switch. To activate timer, turn the knob clockwise past the number 1 (one hour mark) and then set the time (15 minutes to 2 hours). You can keep the sterilizer "ON" for continuous operation by turning the timer knob to the left, as indicated by the arrow, to the "HOLD" mark. This will keep the switch "ON" until the timer is turned off manually.
PLEASE NOTE: Be sure to turn the sterilizer timer off when using this "HOLD" position. This must be done when your sterilization needs are completed. Sterilizer will not turn itself off from "HOLD" position.
THERMOSTAT and THERMOMETER
Before using the sterilizer for the first time, it will be necessary to establish the thermostat setting that will maintain a pre-selected temperature. For 320 degrees F, set the thermostat so that the number "7" on the dial will be next to the black dot. Turn the time switch to the "HOLD" position. After about half an hour check and see what temperature has been reached. It will be fairly close to 320 degrees F. For more accuracy, raise or lower the thermostat as required, a little at a time, until the mercury remains at the selected temperature.
It is advisable to make a record of such settings. Proceed in the same manner for other temperatures frequently used. (See time-temperature table),
After the temperature settings have been established and recorded, your sterilizer is ready to give you years of efficient, safe, convenient and economical service.
PILOT LIGHTS
This sterilizer has two pilot lights. The red pilot light will remain on as long as the time switch is in the ON position. The white pilot light is on only while the heating elements are heating up.
STERILIZING PROCEDURES
1. Prepare material for sterilization by careful washing and rinsing with hot water, A good surgical detergent should be used together with an ultrasonic cleaner, if available. Remove moisture by patting with towel, place instruments in sterilizer trays and close door. Check thermostat setting to be sure it is for the correct temperature and set time switch for desired sterilizing cycle. The sterilizer is now in operation and the pilot light is on.
2. The selected temperature will be reached in about 15 minutes depending on the thermostat setting, load, etc. After sterilizing cycle is completed remove instruments for use, or leave them in sterilizer for sterile storage.
3. If the unit is to be used throughout the day, it is convenient and time saving to keep it "ON" continuously. Since the heating elements are burn-out proof, and the electricity consumed costs but a few pennies per day, you can eliminate the warming-up period. Please note time switch procedures.
4. Instruments do not have to be wrapped for sterilization unless it is intended to keep them sterile for extended periods after removal from the sterilizer. In such situations, it is recommended that the instruments be wrapped in Dry Heat Sterilization Instrument Tubing, Dry Heat indicator labels should be used in every load you process.

THESE TEMPERATURES MUST BE MAINTAINED DURING COMPLETE STERILIZATION CYCLE.
IMPORTANT: All instruments must be thoroughly cleaned and dried before being placed in this unit for sterilization.
CLEANING: Before cleaning sterilizer, remove plug from electrical outlet. A soft damp cloth with a mild soap or a commercial stainless steel cleaner can be used on the stain less steel cabinet. DO NOT use an abrasive cleaner. Trays can be washed in hot water using a mild detergent, and should be rinsed and dried afterwards.

OPERATION & SAFETY TIPS
Be sure to read instruction booklet thoroughly before operating sterilizer.
Be sure to check for correct voltage before plugging sterilizer into electrical outlet. Use AC current only.
As with any heat producing appliance, never leave sterilizer unattended while in operation.
Always unplug unit when cleaning and never get sterilizer wet.
Always use recommended temperatures and times for sterilization.
These pre-heated load temperatures must be maintained during complete sterilization cycle.
Do not overload sterilizer.
Spread items out on trays in a single layer.
It is recommended that instruments be bagged prior to sterilization.
All instruments must be thoroughly cleaned and dried before sterilization.
Make sure all instrument tubing, bags, and indicators are designed specifically for Dry Heat.
Dry Heat indicator labels should be used in every load you process.
Be sure to follow your state's requirements pertaining to periodic testing of your sterilizer using spore test kits.
Refer all service to qualified repair personnel.
Do not attempt to sterilize items likely to melt during heat process, (rubber, plastic, etc).
